Description
The “Wangden” carpet originated in Tibet’s western region. The carpet was made out of sheep wool and hand-weaved with traditional natural dyed. It was introduced by one of the highest Lama in the village. He introduced the first design of the carpet, which is “Khikhor” which means “Mandala”, which depicts a tool for gaining wisdom and compassion and is generally depicted as a tightly balanced, geometric composition wherein deities reside. The principal deity is housed in the center. The “mandal” serves as a tool for guiding individuals along the path to enlightenment. The Dropenling artisans had created this beautiful handmade carpet in Shigatse, while he was also working on the farm.
